Canadian House of Commons Motion 291 was passed unanimously in 2007. It urged the Japanese government to formally acknowledge and take full responsibility for the involvement of the Japanese Imperial Armed Forces in the system of forced “comfort women,” to offer a formal and sincere apology to survivors in the Diet, and to continue addressing the needs of those affected in the spirit of reconciliation.
