The Protocol of 2014 to the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (ILO Protocol P029) is a legally binding international treaty adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to strengthen the implementation of the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29) in response to contemporary forms of forced labor, including human trafficking and modern slavery. It supplements the 1930 Convention by placing greater emphasis on prevention, victim protection, access to remedies, and effective enforcement. The Protocol also removed obsolete transitional provisions in the original Convention that had allowed certain limited uses of forced labor, thereby reinforcing the principle that forced labor should be prohibited in all its forms.
